On November 8, 2002, the European Union, which is comprise of Holland, Denmark , Sweden , Austria , Belgium , Italy , Finland and Germany ,etc., completed the registration of the Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive. On February 13, 2003, it official announced this Directive. The Directive states that all member of European Union must enforce regulations of WEEE & RoHS before August 31, 2004 and all electric equipment products must be compliant with WEEE starting from July 1st, 2006. The Directive also prohibits any hazardous material listed in ROHS entering Europe.
The main purpose of these regulations was to reduce the waste of electric and electronic equipment and set up a recycling and reusing system. Accordingly this would reduce the amount of hazardous materials disposed into the environment. In order to respond to the green environmental protection act, domestic and international corporations have now started to set the regulations for their companies.
In September 2003 Everlight present a whole series of product to SGS for testing for six hazardous. As of March 2004 these products were certified by the SGS reports as compliant. The specifications for the six hazardous substances are follows:
